What is LastFlare?
LastFlare keeps important messages safe for the people you care about, delivered only if you're not around to send them yourself.
What kind of messages can I create?
With a free account, you can write one text message stored with AES-256 encryption. Premium includes unlimited messages with photos, videos, and audio clips plus 2 GB of Vault storage. Lifetime includes unlimited messages with 3 GB of Vault storage and over 10 years of secure message storage included.
How do I check in?
- Open the LastFlare app and tap the large check-in button on the home screen.
- If you received a “Just checking in” email or SMS, tap “Check In Now” — this is a direct web link that works without the app installed.
- If you'd like the full app experience, download from the App Store or Google Play.
Is SMS check-in available in my country?
SMS check-ins are available on Premium and Lifetime plans in supported countries. Coverage varies by region. Free plan users can check in via push notifications.
What happens if I miss a check-in?
Don't worry — LastFlare gives you plenty of time to respond before anything is sent:
- Push notification
- SMS and email reminder
- Your trusted contacts (guardians) are asked to confirm you're okay
- A final cancellation window before any messages are sent
- Messages are delivered only after all stages are exhausted
How do I pause LastFlare?
Go to Settings → Pause LastFlare. While paused, no check-in reminders or cascade will trigger.
How do I add a guardian?
Go to Settings → Guardians → Add Guardian. Guardians are trusted contacts who can verify you're okay if you miss a check-in.
How do I change my check-in interval?
Go to Settings → Check-In Interval to adjust how often LastFlare checks in with you.
How do I download my data?
Go to Settings → Download My Data and tap “Request Export”. LastFlare prepares your export in the background — you'll receive a push notification and email when it's ready.
- The download link expires in 7 days — download it promptly.
- You can request a new export every 24 hours.
- The export includes your messages, recipients, guardians, and account settings as a ZIP file.
- Media attachments are not included in the current export.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → Delete Account. You can download your data before deleting.
Is LastFlare secure?
Yes. All messages are encrypted with AES-256-GCM at rest. We take security seriously and are committed to keeping your messages safe.
Does LastFlare offer GPS tracking?
GPS location embedding is on our roadmap but is not yet available. Current check-in options include push notifications, SMS, and email.
How do I stop receiving SMS from LastFlare?
You can opt out of SMS messages at any time:
- Reply STOP to any SMS from LastFlare to immediately unsubscribe.
- Disable SMS notifications in your account settings under Settings → Notifications.
After opting out, you will receive a one-time confirmation message and no further SMS messages. You can re-enable SMS at any time in your account settings. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.

What is a guardian?
A guardian is a trusted contact who helps verify a user's wellbeing if they miss a check-in. If the user doesn't respond to automated reminders, guardians receive an email asking whether they're okay. Your response helps prevent messages from being delivered when the user is simply unreachable, not in distress.
I received an invitation email. What do I do?
You can accept or decline. Clicking either link in the email takes you to a confirmation page — you'll need to click one more time to confirm your choice. This two-step process prevents accidental responses from email scanners.
- If you accept: you'll be listed as a trusted contact for this person. You'll only be contacted if they miss a check-in.
- If you decline: the user will see your decision in the app. You won't receive further requests unless they send a new invitation.
The invitation link is valid for 7 days. If it expires, ask the user to resend it from their app.
I received a “Can you help us reach [user]?” email. What do I do?
This means the person who added you as a guardian hasn't responded to their check-in reminders. Please respond honestly — your response matters.
You have three options in the email:
- “[User] is safe — I spoke with them” — if you've been in contact and know they're okay. This immediately halts the process.
- “I was unable to reach [User]” — if you tried but couldn't get through. You'll be asked to type “CONFIRM” before this is recorded.
- “[User] needs help” — if you have reason to believe something is wrong. You'll be asked to type “CONFIRM” before this is recorded.
You have approximately 6 hours to respond before the system moves to the next stage automatically.
Can I change my response?
Yes. If you responded and then got more information, you can click the link in the original email again and submit a new response — as long as the 6-hour window hasn't closed. If you previously said you couldn't reach them but then spoke to them and they're okay, update your response immediately — it will halt the process.
How do I remove myself as a guardian?
You can request deletion of your data at any time using our data deletion form.
Submitting a request will remove your contact information and guardian relationship from our system. The person who added you will be notified that you've been removed.
How is my data handled?
Your name, email address, and phone number (if provided) are stored only to fulfill your role as a guardian.

How do I stop receiving SMS from LastFlare?
If you received an SMS as part of the guardian verification process, you can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any SMS from LastFlare.
After opting out, you will receive a one-time confirmation message and no further SMS messages. If you need to be reached for guardian verification in the future, LastFlare will use email instead. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.

Why did I receive a message from LastFlare?
Someone who cares about you left a message for you through LastFlare — a service that holds personal messages and delivers them when the time is right. They wanted to make sure their words reached you.
Is this message authentic?
Yes. LastFlare only delivers messages after a careful multi-step verification process. The message you received was intentionally composed and addressed to you by someone who wanted you to have it.
What if I think this was sent by mistake?
If you believe you received this message in error, please contact us immediately at [email protected]. Include the email address the message was sent to and any details that seem incorrect. We'll investigate and respond promptly.
I'm having trouble opening or reading my message
If you're having trouble accessing your message, email [email protected] with the subject “Message delivery issue” and include the email address it was sent to. We'll help you access it.

If you received an SMS notification about a message delivery, you can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any SMS from LastFlare.
